Edinburgh Marine Archaeology (EMA)

The research of Edinburgh Marine Archaeology (EMA) focuses on demonstrating the role of marine heritage in the sustainable development of coastal areas and the ocean.

Edinburgh Marine Archaeology (EMA) leads research and teaching in marine archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, exploring the role of marine heritage in sustainable coastal and ocean development, and with a focus on science-informed policy and ocean heritage governance. Our research and teaching highlight the social, cultural, and economic value of marine heritage. Through challenge-led fieldwork, we work closely with industry and government to bridge research and practice in response to global challenges.
